Learn about PAINTWORK DETROIT and Theresa DeRoo

Theresa began Designing and Painting at Wayne State University in 1982. She began painting professionally after taking Pinstriping and Sign Painting classes and volunteering to paint all types of things; from Christmas ornaments to baby rooms to graduation signs.

In 2005, Theresa was hired at the Detroit Science Center where she was eventually promoted to Head Painter at the Detroit Science Center's Exhibit Shop. Over the next 6 years Theresa finished and refurbished hundreds of exhibits for the Science center, the Detroit Zoo, The Henry ford Museum, WSU, The Arab-American Museum, and Marcon Exhibits.

Theresa was the director and primary painter for two traveling exhibits: Diabetes: A Closer Look, and The Accidental Mummies of Guadajato, where she replicated a 3000 sq. ft. Mexican Cemetery. This Exhibit is touring the U.S. currently.

The constant physical and creative demand of Exhibits honed and expanded Theresa's painting and sculpting skills to 'Museum quality'. Working with designers and highly skilled craftsmen on multi-million dollar projects placed her in an unique professional position with a razor thin error margin.

This wealth of experience translates well to The needs and wants of Theresa's clients. Listening is 'key' to successful finishes and happy clients. Browse our galleries. We hope they will interest and inspire you on your next project with us.
